The Music Center’s Last Note

April 12, 2018 by allamericanjunk

We do a lot of clean-outs around Westchester County. But every now and then, we have one that makes us take a step back, look around, and appreciate the importance of our job-site. Cleaning out the Music Center in Larchmont, was one of those places.

After being contracted by the Lalli and Pugliese family to assist in removing unwanted household furniture and items from their home, they informed us that their local business, The Music Center needed to be cleaned out as well. Now this was “music” to our ears, as we’re music fanatics. Actually, some of our haulers even play in local bands. Needless to say, we were excited to dive into another project.

However, this wasn’t just your ordinary, run of the mill music center. No, this was a staple in the Larchmont community. As we started to haul out desk by desk and stand by stand, we were visited by past clients, co-workers, colleagues and local residents who stopped by throughout the day. They were in shock that this day had arrived, as the Music Center represented much more than just another place to go and get guitar or piano lessons. It represented family. It represented a place of belonging; and to some, it was a second home as Mrs. Pugliese was like a mother to many. One Larchmont native was almost in tears as he stated, “This was THE place to go to. There were thousands of children who passed through these doors over the years to better their lives with music. Today marks the end of an era.”

We managed to salvage an original sign from the music center and returned it to the family, as we saw it as an invaluable memento (see picture below.)

A special thank you goes out to the Pugliese, Adams, Howard and Lalli families; not only for your business, but for choosing us to be a part of something special. This was an important time for your family and the community of Larchmont. We are truly grateful to have such wonderful clients like yourselves, and wish you all nothing but the best moving forward.
